Medical Aid in Dying

When you are wanting to feel some control over what happens at the end of your life, you have a choice.

The Colorado End of Life Act was passed in 2016.  Since then, there have been over 400 Coloradans who have chosen to experience their death on their own terms. â€‹While using MAID is not easy, the guidelines we need to follow are somewhat simple.  I am honored to answer questions, and if needed, assist in this process.

Criteria
  • You must be a Colorado resident.

  • You must have a terminal disease.  If you have qualified for full Hospice, you automatically meet this criteria.

  • You need two physicians to corroborate your disease and prognosis.

  • You need a support system, whether it is friends or family.

While money should not be a barrier, it has to be part of the discussion.  The medication can cost between $500-$1000.  Consultations with physicians can cost $500-$3000.  However, please do not let this deter you, I would like to work with patients and families to make this affordable.  My current fee is $500 for the two visits, reviewing medical records, coordinating with the corroborating physician and writing the prescriptions.  I also provide significant family support during this time as well.
